The transformation of the Foundry, home of the former Browne and Sharpe Manufacturing Plant, is one of the largest historic preservation projects ever undertaken in the state of Rhode Island. The recently completed Sharpe Building is Bruner/Cott’s second project on the site, adding 196 new apartment units.
The development’s first building dates to 1872 and incorporates elements from the industrial past into the residential units. The apartments have retained the original Canadian maple factory floors and include 13-foot ceilings, arched windows, and two heating systems. The Sharpe Building includes a fitness and business center, event room, roof deck, and courtyard.
