Our work at MASS MoCA continues to pursue three fundamental goals: create a diverse cultural destination, adapt an historic mill complex, and catalyze the economic growth of Western Massachusetts.
The Hunter Center is a flexible, 10,000 sf black-box theater with a clear-span 30-foot ceiling, accommodating 850 seats. Smaller film screening rooms and a series of outdoor performance spaces have catalyzed new programs and attracted large audiences and acts such as Wilco’s Solid Sound Festival, David Byrne, Emmylou Harris, and Beck.
MASS MoCA is a vibrant cultural destination and its programming outreach has revitalized the community. The museum’s economic impact was the subject of Culture and Revitalization, a study published by the Center for Creative Community Development in 2006. Bruner/Cott’s engagement with the museum continues as we collaborate with nationally recognized artists to showcase art installations and to plan further development of the campus.
