Faculty offices, classrooms, executive education, dining, group study, and social spaces are brought together in the new 6-story Sloan center. The design follows clear priorities based on goals established with MIT at the outset and refined in management school programming sessions and community meetings: a broad-based approach to sustainability (environmental, financial, and social); establishing stronger connections with the rest of MIT’s Campus and the City of Cambridge; and creating a “heart” within the East Campus. The building is designed to promote formal and informal collaboration among Sloan faculty and students.
Seegers Student Union, Muhlenberg College, Allentown PA

Muhlenberg College’s goal for the new student union was to enhance the campus sense of community with a beautiful space to work and live in every day. Today, Seegers Union is a state-of-the-art facility. The Union is home to a wide variety of departments and student organizations centered on the new 600-seat dining operation. It is a welcoming gathering place for students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni and college friends and a thriving venue for student programs and activities.
Emerson Hall, Hamilton College, Clinton NY

The Emerson Literary Society, the only non-Greek society at Hamilton College, was established in 1882 to honor the life of Ralph Waldo Emerson and his American philosophy. This 18th century-style home has been renovated and expanded to become Hamilton College’s new campus center. Emerson Hall is now Hamilton’s major campus crossroad, with a book store, meeting rooms, student lounges, and dining area/food court. The new addition, which adds natural light and a modern design aesthetic, preserves key aspects of the building’s original design.
Performing Arts & Dining Center, Dean College, Franklin MA

Adjacent to the existing campus center, the new building has a 350-seat dining hall and servery, a state-of-the-art kitchen, and support facilities. The performance center supports a 150-seat theater, offices, dressing rooms, and a green room. Retractable seating allows for dual-purpose use; when not a theatre, the space opens up into a rehearsal hall.

Henry Moss led a walking tour of Boston's Ladder District and the former Combat Zone for the 2011 NoName Conference, discussing preservation and urban renewal, which has been helped by academic institutions in those neighborhoods. He also delivered the keynote address at the 2011 Northeast Chapter of the Association for Preservation Technology International (APTNE) conference in Boston. The theme of the presentation was: Authenticity and Transience: Issues of Representation in Substitute Assemblies.
