At first glance, the building at the Burberry’s Building on the corner of Arlington and Newbury in Boston, Massachusetts appears to be from the 19th Century. In fact, only a small part of the street face is original. The Boston headquarters of Burberry’s Ltd. of London is an essentially new building with administrative offices and street front retail. This was a major reconstruction and expansion of a fire damaged historic building. Responsible for both the base building and the high-end tenant fit-out, Bruner/Cott developed an accelerated design and construction schedule to accommodate the client’s need to be operational by the autumn selling season. Bruner/Cott began design work in March, 1982, construction began in April, 1982 and the store opened for business on October 26, 1982. 8 months from the start of design to completed construction.
