Architecture | Preservation | Urban Design | Space Planning Bruner/Cott’s design approach reflects our architectural philosophy; it is collaborative, iterative, organic, and client involved. Form grows out of program and the program is inclusive. Program reflects use, cost and community. Shape and style evolve through the understanding of the building in time and place. Our buildings are beautiful, functional and appropriate. Shape, context and program are not preconceived solutions. Our design is the result of collaboration between client and architect; with cost, context and user needs in mind. The success of our design is measured by the trade-offs and the harmony with which the work achieves its ends. It is the real-life relationship between client and user, opportunity and cost, and function and shape. As primary architects or key team members, we have worked in almost every building type. Our most successful projects involve substantial constraints: historic settings, compact sites, complex phasing, tight budgets, and community interface. We are equally at ease building new or working with old structures; and we are particularly effective when the program calls for new construction added to an existing historic building. Sustainability has always been integral to our design. Today we design our buildings with LEED guidelines in mind. Most of our Principals are LEED accredited and we have a full-time environmental sustainability consultant on staff. In this year alone, we completed four LEED-registered buildings; three new Silver, and one Platinum adaptive reuse. |
