Goodrich Hall is a new student center created in the shell of a much-altered 1859 chapel. The main floor is a café and multiuse space that is easily convertible for concerts, dances, lectures, or movies. The room contains a stage, theater lighting, and a full range of audio equipment. A newly constructed mezzanine offers excellent views of the stage and banquette seating for studying and quiet conversation. Each banquette is wired with dataport connections and computer terminals. A cathedral-ceilinged Student Resource Room houses student organizations.
Original beams, trusses, paneling, and stained-glass windows were revealed and restored. A new stair/elevator tower solves handicapped and egress problems, while saving enough interior space to permit reopening the second floor, and connecting the building to the lower campus.
