Vanderbilt’s Sarratt Student Center houses the University’s main dining hall, student art gallery, performance spaces, studios, bookstore, mailroom, cinema, pub, study rooms and offices.

Using focus groups and interviews with students, faculty and staff, Bruner/Cott identified and catalogued limitations of the underused previous facility, and documented preferences for a revitalized student center.

The 70,000 square foot Center was new construction incorporating parts of the existing structure. The existing space was reorganized around a core entered through a light-filled atrium connecting six levels in three formerly separated buildings with skylighted public spaces.
